World-class engineers constantly innovating

LPS was started with the aim to make use of rapidly developing laser technology and apply it to various business challenges. The use of laser technology was first put on rails two decades ago, trialled on Railtrack infrastructure in 1997. Today we focus on the friction loss that railway companies face in Autumn due to leaves on the line.

How it's going

2016

Prototype testing.

2018

Working commercially with the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) to help solve contamination problems.

2020

LIRR deployed a second LaserTrain at an increased speed of 44kph, further increasing efficiencies across its network.

2022

LaserTrain can operate at speeds of 100kph. Prototype trials with railway operators in the UK and US complete.
