Keolis Commuter Services and the MBTA Boston adopt the LPS LaserTrain for enhanced rail safety and efficiency.
LPS is proud to announce that Keolis Commuter Services in Boston has integrated the LaserTrain into its maintenance strategy for the MBTA’s Commuter Rail system. By leveraging modern rail cleaning laser technology, Keolis aims to combat slip events and ensure safe, efficient operations across the North Boston rail network.

Keolis and the MBTA have leased a LaserTrain to tackle slip-slide challenges during the autumn months. With years of commercial success, LaserTrain has established itself as a leading solution on the East coast of the USA, delivering reliable and consistent results.
It's precise laser cleaning technology removes contaminants that create slippery rail conditions, improving rail adhesion for safer braking and acceleration. Operating at speeds of up to 60mph, the LaserTrain provides fast, effective cleaning that lasts up to 24 hours, helping Keolis maintain optimal rail performance throughout the season. Together, LPS and Keolis are committed to enhancing passenger safety and ensuring the reliability of Boston’s rail services.
Seamless Integration
“Keolis has been incredibly focused—they observed our LaserTrain in action in New York last November, and by February, a contract was in place,” said Harm Medendorp, CEO of LPS. "Their preparation and commitment enabled us to complete the LaserTrain build by August—well ahead of the slip-slide season, in just 25 weeks."
